How Did I End Up Here?

Written by DrumSetDude

Here is a post I saw today that seemed to be right in line with our journey to bring music back into our lives. It’s called Re-Centering: Finding Your Way Back To The Life You Meant To Live. It is from the Zen Habits blog and I think we can all resonate with it’s message.

Planning Should Be Broader In Scope

Too often we either fail to plan for major events in our lives or we only look at one facet such as increasing our income. This can cause us to turn around in the future and realize we’re not living the life we dreamed of because it wasn’t in our plans. Yes, maybe we have met our income goals but at what cost? We have to be able to look at the implications of different parts of our life plans and make sure they’ll work together in harmony.

That way we won’t look around in five years and say “I made most of my money targets. So how come I never went back to playing the piano?”

I’d like to hear your comments on the article. Please leave me a comment below and I encourage you to comment on their blog as well.

It looks like you definitely got the core of the message. When I wrote it I was trying to vent out all that I had come to realize after one dimensionally following my goals/dreams. Like you said, you get to a place where you’ve met your goals, but lost your passions; the very things that drove you in the first place.

Thanks for checking it out and I hope the best for you and your music! Eric.

    Eric,

I am honored that you stopped by my blog!

Unfortunately, most times it takes a person to realize they have just drifted off from their passions and goals for them to see a change is necessary.

This is how it was for me. Until now, that is.

I now see a way to indulge my loves in life AND be content that I’m helping others do the same.

I’m adding your blog to my feed reader(a select bunch I assure you)and will be checking in on you regularly.

I hope you’ll feel welcome to do the same.

    Best,

    Jeff
