Goal Number Two: Attending Live Performances
Written by DrumSetDudeIn a previous post “How Can You Put Music In Your Life?” I laid out five goals or paths to bring music back into your life. If you recall I said that these were not meant to be a progression and that each person’s journey would be different. The goals are intended only to give a loose framework to our project.
Our Musical Goals
The goals were:
- Listening to music
- Attending live performances
- Resuming playing or singing on a regular basis
- Resuming singing or playing lessons
- Learning a new or first instrument
Now that we have covered Listening To Music, let’s move onto our second goal of attending live performances.
Attending Live Performances
Live music is happening all around us. The biggest problem most of us face is knowing when and where the music we want to hear is going to be. I want to spur your imagination as well as get your suggestions for opportunities I may have overlooked.
Here are the places I will be covering in the next post:
- Bars/Restaurants
- Performance venues
- Churches
- Schools and Universities
I realize there are others that I will call incidental music places. I’m speaking of performances that happen in amusement parks, cruise ships, malls and places like that. I call them incidental because while it’s true you can find some excellent music in these places, it’s not the reason you go to them. It just happens while you are there.
While putting together our plan I prefer to concentrate on methods that require our participation to make them happen. We’ve already seen what happens to the music in our lives when we just hope we’ll run into it somewhere. We need to be involved in making this happen.
Join me in my next post where I’ll look at each of the places above and the ways we can keep on top of what’s going at each one.
