What Do You Listen To During The Holiday Season?
Written by DrumSetDudeEvery year, my wife and I do what most people do during the holiday season-try to get into the spirit before the holidays are over. With all that is going on this time of year it’s very hard to not get so involved in finding the perfect gifts, seeing friends and relatives and eating ourselves sick that we actually take time to enjoy ourselves.
One of the things that has helped me get in and stay in the spirit is Christmas music.
Christmas Music Takes Me Back To My Childhood
There are certain songs that every time I hear them I can remember what Christmas felt like to me as a child. I imagine that any music that reminds one of a time in their life can have this effect. Music is that powerful and Christmas music has always held a special place in my heart.
What Is Your Favorite Holiday Music?
I am a Christian but I am not trying to exclude anybody here. Christmas music has the effect it does on me partly because of my religion but there’s more to it than that. What I’m talking about here is any time of year that’s special to you tends to have music that becomes a powerful emotional trigger for you. Music that, whenever you hear it, takes you back to another time in your life.
This is the question I’m asking. What music can you hear that transports you beyond space and time and makes you feel like a different person, if only temporarily?
