David Foster And Friends Review

Written by DrumSetDude

I was watching my local PBS station the other night and I had the pleasure of seeing the “Hitman: David Foster And Friends” concert replay from the DVD of the same name.  I had seen bits and pieces of it before but had not seen the concert from the beginning.  The only word I can come up with to describe it is “WOW”.

David Foster Has Worked With Almost Everybody

I know it’s an often overused cliche but David Foster does seem to have worked with nearly everybody that’s ever called themself a successful musician.  From soft jazz to rap and everything in between.  His two biggest strengths are spotting true talent and potential and being able to mold it into a form that is highly accessible and marketable.  One guest after another tells how incredibly blessed they feel to ever have crossed paths with him and acknowledge his contribution to their successes.  I know it sounds a little mushy but I think you can see these people honestly believe they owe a huge part of their careers to his influence.

Exceptional Vision And Execution

Known throughout the industry as a consummate professional and perfectionist, he’s one of those rare musician/producers who’s harder on himself than anybody.  Still, those that have worked with him say he demands the same high level from any project he’s associated with.  You won’t find David just “finishing up” a project to get it into the can for the record company.  He feels he owes it to those he believes in to give them the best chance he can to become huge.  He takes great pride in any project he puts his name on and it shows.

Get The PBS Video And See For Yourself

The David Foster And Friends PBS DVD apparently contains an hour more than the concert they showed on PBS.  Make sure to support your PBS station by getting one of these DVDs and then set aside a long evening for taking it all in.  It will be one of the most powerful musical experiences you’ve had in a long time.
